Dunbar came out on top against Lake Worth by a score of 36-28 on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Dunbar, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading Dunbar to victory were Ben Smith and Ja'marion Garrett. Smith rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, while Garrett rushed for 246 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry.
Damion Hopkins and Cornell Avington certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Hopkins gained 127 total yards and two touchdowns, while Avington picked up 107 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Dunbar's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.6 points per game. As for Lake Worth, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Dunbar will be playing in front of their home fans against Kennedale at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Kennedale's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last six matchups. As for Lake Worth, they will head out on the road to face off against Eastern Hills at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
