Basketball Recap: Penn Cambria Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Landon Semelsberger and Isaac Strittmatter

Penn Cambria lost against Forest Hills back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Penn Cambria Panthers lost to the Forest Hills Rangers at home by a 74-60 margin. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 227th, while the Rangers are ranked 15th).

Isaac Strittmatter and Landon Semelsberger certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Strittmatter posted ten points and seven rebounds, while Semelsberger had 15 points. The dominant performance gave Semelsberger a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Caden Gibbons, who put up seven points and seven rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Forest Hills to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dylan Stohon, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. Stohon's evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Gregovich, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds.

Penn Cambria has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Forest Hills, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

Penn Cambria will venture away from home to square off against Somerset at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Penn Cambria is facing Somerset at the right time seeing as Somerset is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Forest Hills, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 76-59 loss against Greater Johnstown on the 11th.
