The Melrose-Mindoro Mustangs will challenge the Whitehall Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Melrose-Mindoro is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Melrose-Mindoro had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Cashton on Saturday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over the Eagles. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

Wade Adams made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Brett Peterson was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lane Rhyme, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Melrose-Mindoro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .537. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Whitehall unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eleva-Strum.
Deacon Steig and Kade Foss stepped up to the plate in a big way. Steig went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Foss went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Melrose-Mindoro's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Whitehall, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Melrose-Mindoro has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Whitehall struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Melrose-Mindoro might still be hurting after the 12-3 loss they got from Whitehall when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
