AAAAAA Region 7 recap Nov. 7, 2012
Peachtree Ridge took down Meadowcreek 61-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Chance Thrasher threw for 72 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 64 yards in the win.
The Lions led AAAAAA Region 7 in scoring this week after putting up 61 points on the Mustangs. Thrasher in the win.
North Gwinnett's dynamic duo of Michael Haynes and Caleb Scott proved tough for Mountain View to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Haynes threw for 165 yards and four touchdowns and Scott had 90 yards receiving. Nate Brown helped North Gwinnett's passing attack out by catching three balls for 67 yards.
Jordan Ellis was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 65 yards on three carries as Peachtree Ridge beat the Bears. Walden Davis also contributed to the rushing game with 65 yards on the ground.
6-foot-1 quarterback Haynes of North Gwinnett is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1751. He has also thrown 21 touchdowns. On the ground, Mill Creek's Jacorey Lewis has rushed for 1307 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jordan Dandridge. The Duluth star has 29 catches for 543 yards.
A big matchup in AAAAAA Region 7 this week will be when Collins Hill takes on the Hawks. As it stands, the Screaming Eagles are in fourth, while Mill Creek is in third.
Habersham Central made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,542 from 8,750. The improvement was the result of 49-0 victory over the Raiders last week.
