The Monroe Bearcats will head out to challenge the Snohomish Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Monroe will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Last Friday, Monroe was able to grind out a solid win over Cedar Park Christian, taking the game 7-4.
Addy Bryant made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run. She also scored a run, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Vivian Knuckey, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That home run was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, Snohomish faced Glacier Peak in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Thursday. The Panthers fell just short of the Grizzlies by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Panthers have suffered since April 2, 2024.
Snohomish saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordyn Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Monroe's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Snohomish, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Monroe hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Snohomish struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Monroe's way against Snohomish in their previous matchup back in March, as Monroe made off with a 6-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bearcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
