The Maclay Marauders pushed their score all the way to 55 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 65-55 to Crossroad Academy. Even though they lost, Maclay's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.2 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Maclay's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Coffin, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. The game was Coffin's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Jalen Crawford was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Among those leading the charge was Ja'Mari Favors, who scored 24 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Crossroad Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Davel Dixon, who scored 13 points.
Maclay's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Crossroad Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maclay won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Florida State University High School at 7:00 p.m. on December 5th. Florida State University High School is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.5 points per game. As for Crossroad Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Marianna at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Marianna knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Crossroad Academy likes a good challenge.
