The Bacon County Raiders''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 25-14 to Irwin County. Bacon County lost against Irwin County in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 66-7 score last time.
Despite the loss, Bacon County still got an impressive performance from Travion Richardson, who rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown.
Irwin County found their leader in underclassman Jason Jackson, who rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown. Jackson's longest rush was for an incredible 82 yards.
Bacon County's loss was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 4-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 13-1 Johnson County and 9-1 Clinch County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.5% over those games). As for Irwin County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season.
Bacon County will head out on the road to face off against Lamar County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lamar County is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games. As for Irwin County, they will be playing at home against Temple at 7:30 a.m. on Friday.
