Trinity Lutheran had lost four straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 5-9 to make it five. They came up short against the Oldenburg Academy Twisters, falling 12-6. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Twisters apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Brody Brown put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Brown was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Nathan Finke was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season. Jonah Harker was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
As for Oldenburg Academy, they moved to 5-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Like Trinity Lutheran, Oldenburg Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Clay Eckstein. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits. Eckstein was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Oldenburg Academy let Adam Weber and Jacob Stenger run wild. Weber went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Stenger went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Ryan Hautman, who earned one RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Trinity Lutheran will host Shawe Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Oldenburg Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Milan at 5:00 p.m. The Twisters' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
