Softball Recap: Minneapolis Extends Winning Streak to Four

Minneapolis waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Ellinwood Eagles as they made off with a 16-6 victory. Considering the Lions have won four contests by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaegan Hardesty made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Hardesty was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Miley McClure was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sierra Cossaart, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI.

Minneapolis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .576. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Minneapolis' win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Ellinwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-12.

Minneapolis does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ellinwood, they are taking a road trip to take on Sylvan-Lucas at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.78 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
