The Waccamaw Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 47-46 to Georgetown. If Waccamaw hoped to take revenge for the 62-44 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Waccamaw's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyrese Haynes, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Connor Hart was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Georgetown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ean Mitchell led the charge by scoring 15 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Mitchell scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Stanley, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Waccamaw has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Georgetown, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waccamaw will take on Loris at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Loris will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Georgetown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Manning at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Manning is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
