The Lewis-Palmer Rangers waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 65-58 victory over Palmer Ridge. Given Lewis-Palmer's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Palmer Ridge is ranked 143rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lewis-Palmer had a senior duo take command as Cohen Edmondson scored 22 points and Damarion Jelks scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jelks has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Johnson, who scored nine points.
Lewis-Palmer has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Palmer Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
Lewis-Palmer will head out on the road to face off against Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lutheran knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Lewis-Palmer likes a good challenge. As for Palmer Ridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Air Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Air Academy is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
