Basketball Game Preview: Seton Hall Prep Pirates vs. St. Peter's Prep Marauders

The Seton Hall Prep Pirates will take on the St. Peter's Prep Marauders at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Seton Hall Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully St. Peter's Prep likes a good challenge.

Last Thursday, Seton Hall Prep didn't have too much trouble with Arts as they won 66-50. The Pirates pushed the score to 57-36 by the end of the third, a deficit the Jaguars cut but never quite recovered from.

Seton Hall Prep found their leader in sophomore Anthony Gonzalez, who posted 20 points in addition to eight assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gonzalez has scored all season. Dylan Guzzardo was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Meanwhile, St. Peter's Prep came tearing into Thursday's contest with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 71-47 victory. The Marauders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 24 points or more this season.

St. Peter's Prep pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Seton Hall Prep, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.

Seton Hall Prep came up short against St. Peter's Prep in their previous matchup back in March of 2020, falling 55-49. Thankfully for Seton Hall Prep, Ray Ford Jr. (who went 7 of 10 en route to 20 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
