Softball Recap: Rockridge Wins Going Away Against Kewanee

Rockridge had won three straight at home, but on Friday they bumped their record up to 14-3 to make it four. Everything went their way against the Kewanee Boilermakers as they made off with a 12-2 win. Considering the Rockets have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Tatum Lowe spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on eight hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emilee Black, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelyn David, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Rockridge lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

As for Kewanee, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. They have struggled against Rockridge recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

On Kewanee's side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kalleigh Gale, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Coming up, Rockridge will square off against Riverdale at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rockets 3.6, the Rams 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Kewanee, they will take on Pontiac at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Indians' pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so the Boilermakers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
