Basketball Recap: Mcquaid Jesuit Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Jaiyden Jones and Henry Fox

McQuaid Jesuit lost against Monroe back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The McQuaid Jesuit Knights fell just short of the Monroe Red Jackets by a score of 77-75. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (72), the Knights still had to take the loss.

McQuaid Jesuit's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Henry Fox, who went 7 for 13 en route to 22 points and seven rebounds, and Jaiyden Jones, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 19 points and seven boards. The matchup was Jones' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Andrew Gerenski, who posted nine points and six boards.

McQuaid Jesuit has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Monroe, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

When McQuaid Jesuit and Monroe next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. McQuaid Jesuit will challenge East and their four-game winning streak at 6:30 p.m. on January 28th. Meanwhile, Monroe will try to stop Webster Schroeder's four-game winning streak when the meet at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
