Cloverdale is 1-9 against Edgewood since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Clovers will host the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. Cloverdale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Cloverdale's offense. They came up short against Sullivan on Tuesday, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Clovers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Edgewood). Everything went their way against Owen Valley on Tuesday as they made off with a 17-1 win. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matchups by six runs or more this season.
ALLY BLAND was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on MADI BLAND, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. ADDISON YEARBY was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Edgewood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in 11 consecutive contests.
Edgewood is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Cloverdale, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.
Both Cloverdale and Edgewood just can't seem to miss. The Clovers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Edgewood struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cloverdale suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Edgewood in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Will the Clovers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
