Attica is 1-9 against Covington since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Red Ramblers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Attica made up a huge gap compared to their last game against West Central, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Red Ramblers were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Trojans on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Red Ramblers considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Cullen Driver made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tristen Miller, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ronnie Matthews, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
Attica always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Central only posted an OBP of .367.
Meanwhile, Covington had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 8-2 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Trojans have posted against the Cougars since April 9, 2022.
Like Attica, Covington also got a great game from a two-way player: Kyven Hill. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Hill was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Kaden Smith was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those doubles were his first of the season. Cian Moore was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Covington's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Attica, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1-1.
Attica skirted past Covington 9-8 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Red Ramblers repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
