The Sumner Stingrays scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They breezed by Strawberry Crest at home to the tune of 83-49. Considering Sumner has won six contests by more than 22 points this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Jacob Douglas was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with seven assists and four steals. The matchup was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ayden Dushing, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Several Chargers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cameron Crowe, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Lattimore, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Sumner is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Strawberry Crest, they bumped their record down to 2-14 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Sumner and Bloomingdale will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Bloomingdale is ranked 217th, while Sumner is ranked 214th). Strawberry Crest is on the road again on Saturday and play against Brandon at 12:00 p.m. on January 13th.
