The Red Cloud Crusaders fell to the Sturgis Brown Scoopers 72-44 when the two teams previously met in February of last year; this time around, they exacted some revenge. Red Cloud took down Sturgis 66-48 on Thursday. The success made it back-to-back wins for the Crusaders.
Red Cloud's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 32 points in the first half. The Scoopers weren't quite able to keep up, and the score was 32-27 heading into the break. The offense for Red Cloud continued to do well in the second half, scoring another 34 points to put the game away.
Among those leading the charge for Red Cloud was junior Jarron Big Horn, who had 25 points.
The win improved Red Cloud's record to 14-5. This is the second loss in a row for Sturgis and nudges their record down to 6-14.
The Crusaders are staying on the road on Monday to face off against Bennett County. Red Cloud won't have the home-court advantage, but they do enjoy an advantage in the MaxPreps rankings. As for the Scoopers, they will face off against Douglas on Tuesday. Like Sturgis, Douglas is looking to wash their mouths of the taste of defeat after falling 68-67 to Spearfish.
