The Payson Lions waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They walked away with a 59-50 victory over Provo. That's another feather in the cap for Payson, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
It was another big night for Quincey Mathews, who scored 24 points along with two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Oaklie Jackman, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Payson has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Provo, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Payson will take on the Timberwolves at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Provo, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Utes at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Utah (Uintah is ranked 104th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 95th).
