Basketball Game Preview: Maple Heights Mustangs vs. Lorain Titans

Maple Heights is 0-10 against Lorain since January of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Maple Heights Mustangs will challenge the Lorain Titans at 7:00 p.m. Lorain took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Maple Heights, who comes in off a win.

Maple Heights is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Shaw: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Maple Heights blew Shaw out of the water with a 55-0 final score. The contest marked the Mustangs' most dominant victory of the season.

Maple Heights' win on Wednesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Treasure Cistrunk, who posted 14 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. That's the most steals Cistrunk has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Robyn Hardwick, who earned 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Maple Heights was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Lorain suffered their biggest loss since November 29, 2023 on Saturday. They took a blow against Warrensville Heights, falling 74-17. The game marked the Titans' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Maple Heights' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-6. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 15.7 points per game. As for Lorain, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Maple Heights suffered a grim 56-36 defeat to Lorain in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Maple Heights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
