The Wharton Wildcats and the Armwood Hawks squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Wharton Wildcats had to settle for second. Wharton fell to Armwood 20-14. Wharton's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Although Wharton took the loss, they still got scores from Malaqhi Jones and Jackson Jensen.
Armwood's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Olontae Dean, who gained 102 total yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Rhys Brush, who threw for 156 yards and three touchdowns.
Wharton's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Armwood, they have yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 10-1 record.
Wharton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Armwood will look to defend their home field on Friday against Tampa Bay Tech at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Tampa Bay Tech is ranked 45th, while Armwood is ranked 23rd).
