It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lafayette Christian Academy had no problem doing just that on Friday. They really took it to the Catholic - N.I. Panthers for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-14 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Knights sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Leading Lafayette Christian Academy to victory were Caiden Bellard and Braylon Walker. Bellard rushed for 169 yards and three scores while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, while Walker rushed for 86 yards and a pair of touchdowns. That's the most rushing yards Bellard has posted since back in October. Brayden Allen also helped out with an impressive 99 receiving yards.
Lafayette Christian Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Kaleb Simon, Draylon August, Kerrance Vallot, and Jayden Arceneaux picked up one apiece. That interception marked the first that Simon has snagged this season.
Lafayette Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Catholic - N.I., their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-3.
Looking ahead, Lafayette Christian Academy will take on Dunham at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' defense has only allowed 11.8 points per game this season, so the Knights' offense will have their work cut out for them. Catholic - N.I. does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
