Downingtown West is a perfect 9-0 against Unionville since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Whippets will welcome the Longhorns at 3:45 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Friday, Downingtown West needed a bit of extra time to put away Downingtown East. They had just enough and edged out the Cougars 4-3. The win was nothing new for the Whippets as they're now sitting on three straight.

Sami Harple was excellent, going 4-for-5 with two RBI and one run. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzi Noles, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Downingtown West was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Downingtown East only posted a batting average of .281.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Unionville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Sun Valley on Thursday. The Longhorns haven't had any issues with the Vanguards recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Peyton Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Shannon Megill, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Lily Daniels, who went 3-for-4 with one run.
Downingtown West's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Unionville, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Downingtown West hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Unionville struggles in that department as they've averaged .313. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Downingtown West took their win against Unionville in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Whippets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Longhorns turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
