The Apex Friendship Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 58-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cary. Apex Friendship was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Cary apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Avery Kiger, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ailani Collazo, who scored 11 points.
Even though they lost, Apex Friendship smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cary only pulled down four offensive rebounds.
Leading Cary to victory were Nadia Snesarev and Kyndall Brewington. Snesarev scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, while Brewington scored 25 points along with six assists. Brewington continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Luci Augustson, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Apex Friendship dropped their record down to 7-8 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Cary, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Apex Friendship will take on Green Level at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Green Level focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday. As for Cary, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Green Hope at 4:30 p.m. on January 23rd.
