Ritchie County is 8-2 against Magnolia since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Rebels will be playing at home against the Blue Eagles at 5:00 p.m. One thing working in Ritchie County's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
On Monday, Ritchie County made easy work of Robert C. Byrd and carried off an 11-5 win.
Brayson Hayes made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hayes was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ritchie County got a big performance out of Tony McBrayer, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Josh Cline was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.
Ritchie County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Magnolia couldn't beat Tyler on Monday even though they stacked six runs on them in the second inning. The Blue Eagles took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights.
Conner Carpenter was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Rydge Moffitt, who went 1-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Ritchie County pushed their record up to 7-18-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Magnolia, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.
Ritchie County skirted past Magnolia 5-4 in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Blue Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
