Softball Recap: Portola Has No Trouble Against Maxwell

Portola hadn't done well against Maxwell recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 24-5 margin over the Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won eight matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Portola got a massive performance out of Kylie Morton, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave Morton a new career-high. Ainsleigh Pruitt was another key player, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles.

The victory made it two in a row for Portola and bumps their season record up to 9-5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 25.0 runs over those games. As for Maxwell, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Looking ahead, Portola will be playing at home against Plumas Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Maxwell, they will venture away from home to take on Williams at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
