The Wakulla War Eagles had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against Blountstown by a score of 54-46. This was payback for Wakulla, who suffered a 66-62 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Wakulla found their leader in underclassman Andrew Nelson, who scored seven points along with six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Carter, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Blountstown's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cyion Smith, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Aidan Richards, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Blountstown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Wakulla is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Blountstown, they bumped their record down to 7-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wakulla won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Leon at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. Leon is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Blountstown, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Graceville at 6:45 p.m. Graceville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 168 points over their last three games.
