Keystone is 9-1 against Firelands since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wildcats will challenge the Falcons at 5:00 p.m. Keystone is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.7 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Keystone got the win against Columbia by a conclusive 12-1. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Brooklyn Modock made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2025. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bristol Foster, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Corinne Lamb was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.
Keystone was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in eight consecutive games.
Black River hit Firelands with a four-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Falcons fell 7-2 to the Pirates. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Firelands saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lexi Schrader, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Keystone has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Firelands, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Keystone hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .377. However, it's not like Firelands struggles in that department as they've averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Keystone got the 'W' in their previous matchup two weeks ago against Firelands by a conclusive 15-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
