The Eden Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Gowanda Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Eden has three straight wins, the Panthers have three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Eden narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Dutchmen 55-53. Given Eden's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while the Dutchmen are ranked 609th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Taesyn Slating, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last three games he's played. Tyler Wakelam was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, Gowanda was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 57-53 to the Golden Falcons.
Eden is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. As for Gowanda, they dropped their record down to 2-5 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Everything went Eden's way against the Panthers when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the Raiders made off with a 66-41 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eden since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
