The Flagler Panthers lost against the Hi-Plains Patriots back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Flagler fell to the Patriots 57-53. Flagler has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Flagler lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaylie Stone. Despite the final result, she scored 26 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That was a full 49.1% of Flagler's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Witt, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Flagler has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Hi-Plains, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Flagler will square off against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Stratton's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while the Panthers have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Hi-Plains, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Hopefully Otis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
