The Langtree Charter Academy Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Corvian Community Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Langtree Charter Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Langtree Charter Academy took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Pine Lake Prep, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lions skirted past the Pride 8-6. The win was some much needed relief for the Lions as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
The team relied heavily on Aiden Gelpke, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Roschke, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Cardinals on Monday. Corvian Community fell just short of Union Academy by a score of 8-6. Corvian Community hasn't had much luck with Union Academy recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Brennan Frey was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. Connor Frey was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Langtree Charter Academy's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Corvian Community, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Langtree Charter Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Corvian Community struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Langtree Charter Academy couldn't quite get it done against Corvian Community in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
