The St. Stephens Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 84-71 to Hickory. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (67), St. Stephens still had to take the loss.
St. Stephens lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Noah VanBeurden, who scored 19 points. Javian White was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with five assists and two steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hickory to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamien Little, who scored 18 points. Little continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was John Holbrook, who scored 17 points.
St. Stephens' loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-8. As for Hickory, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.
St. Stephens and Statesville will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Statesville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Wednesday. Hickory will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Foard at 8:00 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Foard focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday.
