The Elizabeth Minutemen came tearing into Tuesday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Union by a score of 60-47. Given Elizabeth's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Union is ranked 187th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Elizabeth's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cameron Mcrae led the charge by scoring 15 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Mcrae posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kareem Anthony jr., who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Elizabeth pushed their record up to 12-2 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.4 points per game. As for Union, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Elizabeth will head out on the road to face off against Plainfield at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Union, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Linden at 4:00 p.m.
