Baseball Game Preview: Owen Warhorses vs. Madison Patriots

Owen hasn't had much luck against Madison recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Warhorses will be playing in front of their home fans against the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

13 must be Owen's lucky number: they beat Rosman with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Warhorses didn't even let the Tigers on the board, marking the Warhorses' second-straight 13-0 shutout. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Josh Nichols made a splash no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jackson Warnock, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Hayden Burpeau was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Owen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. They are 4-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Madison ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Mitchell, sneaking past 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Patriots have posted since April 3rd.

Owen's victory bumped their record up to 4-15. As for Madison, their win bumped their record up to 9-12.

Owen might still be hurting after the 15-8 defeat they got from Madison in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Warhorses avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
