Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Roxana Shells, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a hard 63-48 fall against Mt. Carmel on Saturday. Roxana's loss signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Roxana still got an impressive performance from Evan Wells, who rushed for 187 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Wells really tore up the turf during one magnificent 72-yard run. Terrel Graves was another key contributor, rushing for 100 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
Mt. Carmel had a senior duo take command as Blayne Sisson rushed for 315 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry and Asher Kight gained 230 total yards and four touchdowns. Sisson hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for six straight games.
Roxana's defeat dropped their record down to 12-1. As for Mt. Carmel, their win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1.
Roxana does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mt. Carmel is on the road again on Friday and play against Byron at 4:00 p.m. on November 24th. Byron is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
