On Wednesday, Sierra Vista narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas 46-43.
Sierra Vista found their leader in underclassman Donnayja Gibson, who scored 17 points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Gibson has scored at least 25% of Sierra Vista's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Caballero, who scored nine points.
Despite the loss, Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas had strong showings from Bella Robinson , who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and six steals, and Riley Ladislao, who scored 18 points along with six steals. The game was Robinson 's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sora Anton, who scored six points.
Sierra Vista has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. As for Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 5-4.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Carson the next time they take the court. Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas will host Carson at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Sierra Vista will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
