The Baboquivari Warriors will head out to take on the St. Augustine Catholic Wolves at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Baboquivari has given up an average of 12.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Baboquivari lost 17-2 to St. David on Wednesday. The Warriors have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Augustine Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 20-10 margin over Santa Rita on Monday. With that win, the Wolves brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Edgardo Cornejo made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off only two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Sergio Cordova was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Alex Martinez, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
St. Augustine Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santa Rita only posted an OBP of .423.
The victory snapped St. Augustine Catholic's losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 3-9 record. As for Baboquivari, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
