Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Duarte's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Duarte and Sierra Vista meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Falcons blew past the Dons 12-1. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Alyssa Garcia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Valeria Hinajosa was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Daniella Matiarena, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Duarte lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Duarte has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games. As for Sierra Vista, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 8-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Duarte will face off against Baldwin Park at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Falcons are facing the Braves at the right time seeing as the Braves are stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Sierra Vista, they will challenge Garey at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
