Basketball Recap: Kayla Woods and Trinity Parker Secure Win for South Bend St. Joseph

South Bend St. Joseph won the last time they faced Knox and things went their way on Monday too. The South Bend St. Joseph Huskies put the hurt on the Knox Redskins with a sharp 57-35 victory. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Redskins are ranked 299th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading South Bend St. Joseph to victory were Trinity Parker and Kayla Woods. Parker went 9 of 14 on her way to 20 points and three steals, while Woods posted nine points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists. The dominant performance gave Parker a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenadie Schrock, who had six points along with six rebounds and five assists.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: South Bend St. Joseph was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for South Bend St. Joseph and bumps their season record up to 8-4. As for Knox, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Bend St. Joseph will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Caston at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Knox will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Winamac at 8:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
