Last Tuesday, Highland Prep humbled Mountainside with a 69-16 victory. Given Highland Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Mountainside is ranked 286th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Highland Prep found their leader in underclassman Tarrell Green, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. The match was Green's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kohen Hill, who scored nine points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Tonopah Valley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Yuma Catholic, falling 92-23. Tonopah Valley has not had much luck with Yuma Catholic recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Highland Prep's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 47.67 points. As for Tonopah Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
