Baseball Recap: West Union Has No Trouble Against West Lowndes

West Union got themselves on the board against West Lowndes on Friday, but West Lowndes never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Jon Grey Morrisson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for West Union: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Grant Martin, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

West Union's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for West Lowndes, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when West Union Eagles take on Ingomar Falcons at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for West Lowndes, they will be playing at home against Vardaman at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
