Allen East needed a changed in momentum after dropping five straight matches and they got it from Aniya Prowant. The Mustangs walked away with a 3-1 victory over Spencerville on Tuesday for which the team can thank Prowant, who had 37 digs and three aces. She has been hot, having posted 16 or more digs the last seven times she's played.
Allen East had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-20, 25-15, 25-20.
Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Allen East, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 4-13.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's matchup: Jefferson has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9 aces per game. However, it's not like Allen East struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Jefferson might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Allen East in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Prowant, who had 23 digs and three aces. Now that the Wildcats know the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time?
