After a string of four wins, the Sylmar Spartans's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Roosevelt by a score of 55-52. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Sylmar has suffered yet this season.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joseph Dickson, Jr, who scored 13 points along with five steals. Dickson, Jr is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Nathan Lee was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Sylmar's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Roosevelt, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sylmar will challenge San Fernando at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Roosevelt, they will head out on the road to face off against Bell at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
