Queensbury got a great performance from Lillian Smith as she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those ten strikeouts gave Smith a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Hannah Blanchard was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Blanchard is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least two every time she's taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, South Glens Falls owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Glens Falls, sneaking past 2-0. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Bulldogs have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
The result came thanks to Isabelle Ames's shutout, as she gave up just five hits.
At the plate, South Glens Falls saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Autumn Roberts, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double was Roberts' first of the season.
Queensbury's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for South Glens Falls, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
Queensbury's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's match. The Spartans have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for South Glens Falls, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Queensbury continue to outrun the ball?
Queensbury suffered a grim 14-6 defeat to South Glens Falls when the teams last played on April 7th. Will the Spartans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
