Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Rockwall Yellowjackets, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were beaten by the Mustangs 77-48 on Saturday. Rockwall's loss signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Rockwall still got an impressive performance from Ashten Emory, who rushed for 255 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Emory was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 69 yards. Triston Gooch was in the mix too, providing Rockwall with three touchdowns.
Leading Westfield to victory were Taji Atkins and Miles Dent. Atkins rushed for 202 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries, while Dent rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Atkins has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last eight times he's played. Desmond Dixon did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 40 receiving yards.
Rockwall's defeat dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Westfield, they have yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 11-2 record.
Rockwall does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Westfield will square off against Duncanville at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Duncanville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 598 points over their last 12 games.
