The Saint Andrew's Scots posted their closest win yet this season on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Western and snuck past 70-68. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Leading Saint Andrew's to victory were Brooklyn Vick and Alex Montes. Vick scored 27 points, while Montes scored 22 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Montes has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Zion Sampaio, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Western lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ethan Panton-Hazell, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Andre Guerrier, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Saint Andrew's has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Western, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.
Saint Andrew's will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Centennial at 2:30 p.m. on January 15th. As for Western, Western and Stranahan will face off at 8:10 p.m. on January 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Stranahan will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
