The Laney Buccaneers stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat South Brunswick 71-33 at home. The win was familiar territory for Laney who now have four in a row.
Laney's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joshua Helms, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Helms is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Hezron Driver was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with three steals.
South Brunswick lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaelon Johnson, who scored ten points along with two steals. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.
Laney's victory bumped their record up to 18-2. As for South Brunswick, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-18.
Laney will head out on the road to face off against New Hanover at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. New Hanover has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 842 points over their last 12 games. As for South Brunswick, they will be playing at home against Topsail at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Brunswick is coming into the match with six straight losses at home, meaning Topsail will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
