After taking the lead in the fourth quarter,
Stanhope Elmore (Millbrook, Ala.) held on for a 24-21 victory over
Prattville (Ala.) on Saturday. The difference for the Mustangs was
Angel Vasquez kicked a field goal.
After taking the lead on a punt return touchdown by
Denzel Jones, the Lions went into halftime with a 21-7 lead. The Mustangs scored the winning points with a field goal by Vasquez that came in the fourth quarter.
Kenterris Tyre played well for Stanhope Elmore in the victory. He ran for two touchdowns.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which Prattville took, 34-7.
The loss comes after Prattville defeated Thompson 33-10 last week. With the win SE extended its winning streak to three games. The loss snapped PHS's 2-game winning streak.
In a 6A Region 4 game next week Stanhope Elmore (5-1) takes on Thompson, and Prattville (2-3) will go up against Pelham also in a 6A Region 4 game.
