The Denver Jewish Day Tigers came tearing into Thursday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They snuck past Flatirons Academy with a 57-53 victory. Denver Jewish Day pushed the score to 57-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Flatirons Academy cut but never quite recovered from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Denver Jewish Day to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lev Friedman, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Keenan Winnerman, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Flatirons Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jude Meyer, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Trey Abeyta, who scored 11 points.
Denver Jewish Day's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Flatirons Academy, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Denver Jewish Day will challenge Front Range Baptist at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Front Range Baptist focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Friday. As for Flatirons Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Golden View Classical Academy at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Golden View Classical Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 last Monday.
