The Mt. Diablo Red Devils lost against the Benicia Panthers back in October of 2019, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Mt. Diablo took a 26-17 hit to the loss column at the hands of Benicia. It was the first time this season that Mt. Diablo let down their fans at home.
When it comes to explaining why Mt. Diablo lost, one person who can't be blamed is Herschel Turner Jr. Despite the final result, he rushed for 212 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 13.3 yards per carry. Turner Jr's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards.
Benicia got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Raymond Avila out in front who gained 167 total yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Holden, who threw for 126 yards and two touchdowns.
Mt. Diablo's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Benicia, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-6.
Mt. Diablo will take on Concord at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Benicia, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against College Park at 7:00 p.m. College Park is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
